National Mesothelioma Day 2012

CAA commemorated National Mesothelioma Day 2012 by hosting a Patient/Carer conference in Glasgow – 28 June & Aberdeen – 6 July. Both conferences had speakers from the medical and legal professions.  Among those issues addressed were pain control and ‘the legal journey’.  Thanks must go to all our speakers who gave their time to make both conferences possible.

Special thanks however must go to our members who gave us all a unique insight into the emotional impact a diagnosis of mesothelioma has on both the patient and their carer.  Dr Audrey Finnegan & Tracy McIntyre, who spoke at the Glasgow conference, were kind enough to share their thoughts and feelings with the audience. Similarly in Aberdeen, Christine Johnson & Erica Cameron spoke of their loss as both suffered the tragedy of losing their husband to mesothelioma.  Evelyn Collie spoke about caring for her husband who was diagnosed with mesothelioma.

All talks were inspiring and moved all those who were there to hear the talks.
