UK Government exempts mesothelioma victims from ‘no win, no fee’ legislation

The BBC has reported that the UK government is to exempt mesothelioma victims from changes to no-win no-fee legislation which were originally contained in the Legal Aid, Sentencing and Punishment of Offenders Bill.

The Bill, which applies to England & Wales, was designed to prevent lawyers claiming ‘success fees’ from the losing side. This could have seen victims of mesothelioma having to pay up to 25% of their damages to their solicitor.
