Clydeside Action on Asbestos are pleased to announce that they have recently established a support group in Ayrshire for those who have been diagnosed with an asbestos related illness. As this group is newly established we are still in discussion with members on how they would like to see the support group develop.
To highlight our presence in the area, we hosted an ‘open day’ on Wednesday 26th January 2011. The event was well attended by trade union officials, Cllr Philip Saxton, Provost Winifred Sloane and other local councillors across the political parties all of whom pledged their support. We also have the invaluable support of the medical profession in both Crosshouse and Ayr Hospitals.
Our members who attended the event took the opportunity to talk with those present about the kind of support they need.
CAA would like to take this opportunity to thank all of those who attended; South Ayrshire Council for the use of their premises and catering; David Moxham, Cllr Saxton and Provost Sloan for their supportive and inspiring speeches.
