Glasgow Memorial Day

This year’s memorial took place on Friday 25 April 2014 at the Provands Lordship, St Nicholas Gardens, Glasgow.   Phyllis Craig MBE, opened the memorial by thanking all those who made such a special effort to attend.  Phyllis stated:

CAA will not let up on its efforts to campaign for recognition for all those who suffer from or who have lost their lives to asbestos related disease.

Laura Blane, representing Thompsons Solicitors, urged everyone to continue with their efforts to keep this issue at the forefront of public attention as the numbers of those who are diagnosed with terminal asbestos related conditions continues to increase. Laura pledged that:

Thompsons Solicitors will continue their support for victims and fight against every attempt to diminish this issue.

Councillor Philip Braat pledged that he and Glasgow City Council would do everything they could to support those diagnosed with an asbestos related disease or affected by the devastating legacy of asbestos.

We would like to thank everyone who attended.  Special thanks must go to Mrs Curran and Joseph Finnerty on what must have been a particularly difficult day for them both. Your efforts, and those of everyone who attended (as well as all those unable to attend) makes a huge difference and inspires us all to continue the fight.  Our thoughts are with you and all those families and friends who have lost someone dear to them.
